The Cabinet has approved the opening of a consular office in Barcelona, Spain. Additionally, the Consulate-General in Frankfurt, Germany, will be supplemented with a consul position, and the Consulate-General in Milan, Italy, will have a chief adviser added to its staff.
Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, said this comes in response to requests from members of the Moldovan diaspora, who need effective and prompt consular services.
The minister added that the new positions will be filled by posting current Ministry staff, and thus the measure will not require additional hiring or costs.
