Moldovan companies to take part in “Canton Fair” in China

Businesses that import and export Chinese goods will be able to display products at the “Canton Fair” that will take place in China in September. Organizational elements concerning the Moldovan delegation’s participation in the event were discussed in a meeting of the Chamber of Trade and Industry of Moldova, IPN reports.

According to the Chamber’s press officer Lia Cazacu, the Moldovan companies will participate in such an exhibition for the first time. Until now, they took part in the fair by paying business visits, not as exhibitors. The Chamber is holding talks with the Chinese organizers so as to obtain certain travel concessions for the participants from Moldova. “The Chinese side is ready to provide support,” said Lia Cazacu.

According to the head of the Chamber of Trade and Industry Gheorghe Cucu, the commercial relations between the two countries become stronger and this enables the Moldovan entrepreneurs to promote their products on the Chinese market and to find new partners.

Xu Tongkaia, commercial-economic consultant of the Embassy of China in Moldova, said in the meeting that “Canton Fair” is one of the largest exhibitions in Asia, where there are exhibited about 150,000 types of products.

In Moldova there are almost 20 companies with Chinese capital. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, trade between Moldova and China in January – April this year came to US$149 million, i.e. by 22% more compared with the corresponding period last year. Moldova’s exports to China in the period amounted to over US$1 million, up about 62%. Imports from China totaled over US$148 million, an increase of about 24%.

In 2012 the fair brought together more than 24,000 exhibitors and about 200,000 visitors from approximately 180 countries.
