Moldovan companies to receive international food safety certificates

Four companies in Moldova will obtain international food safety certificates with the help of Citizens Network for Foreign Affairs (CNFAP), Info-Prim Neo reports. Victor Scutaru GT, Podgoreni SRL, Agrodenidan SRL and Prometeu T S.A. will receive one ISO 22000 and three GLOBALG A.P. certificates within the Farmer to Farmer Program implemented by CNFA Inc. in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. GLOBALG.A.P. (formerly known as EurepGAP)is is a single integrated standard with modular applications for fruit and vegetables, livestock production and other products. The standard serves as a global reference system for other existing standards and can also easily and directly be applied by all parties of the primary food sector. It equips members with a reliable tool kit, which allows each partner in the supply chain to position themselves in a global market with respect to consumer requirements. ISO 22000 is an international standard that defines the requirements of a food safety management system covering all organizations in the food chain from “farm to fork”.The standard combines generally recognized key elements to ensure food safety along the food chain, including: interactive communication, system management, control of food safety hazards through pre-requisite programs and HACCP plans, continual improvement and updating of the food safety management system. The ISO 22000 certificate will be given to Prometeu T S.A., which processes walnuts and dried fruits. The four Moldovan producers and exporters will receive the certificates from the certification company SGS Moldova. Managed by CNFA since 199, the Farmer to Farmer program works together with Moldovan counterparts to improve crop and livestock growing techniques, increase income from value-adding processing, develop new products, introduce new technology, cultivate new markets, and strengthen support services within the targeted fruit, vegetable and livestock value chains. FtF is funded by the United States Agency for International Development.
