The communities that signed statements on the union with Romania long ago did the union by twinning with communities from over the Prut River and by implementing joint projects at the local level, including by cooperation in the financial, cultural, sports and artistic spheres, mayor of Capaclia village of Cantemir district Alexei Busuioc stated in a news conference at IPN.
The mayor said he is realistic and realizes that the union is done gradually and with political will. “We opened up the borders long ago, through the projects that we implement together with Romania. Besides, there is the political part that is implemented not so easily,” stated Alexei Busuioc. He noted that the local elected officials have received no money for signing statements on the union, as it was rumored.
Ionela Lozovan, mayor of Pitusca village of Calarasi district, where a statement on the union with Romania was signed, said that antipathy to Romanians and discriminatory behavior towards them is cultivated in the Moldovans since childhood. “Most of the people with whom I talked said they are for the union, but there are also young people who said that they do not need Romania. But everyone should unite. The people should realize that it will be better alongside Romania,” stated Ionela lozovan.
Writer Nicolae Dabija said the Republic of Moldova is that lizard tail that remained only a tail and that ultimately became a failed state. “Only by the union with Romania, we will be independent and will be militarily neutral, while Russia will be obliged to take its army and go away,” he stated.
Stefan Sofronovici, scientific researcher at the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, said the Republic of Moldova is like a child kidnapped from his mother, Romania, by his stepmother Russia and this keeps the country in its sphere of influence. “The union cause is holy for us as the Romanian nation is the only one in Europe that was divided as Russia wanted,” he stated.
According to unionist movements, 94 communities in Moldova have so far signed symbolical statements on the union with Romania.
