The Moldovan Orthodox Church has partnered with the Orizont lyceum network to launch a charity campaign ahead of Easter. The organizers call on kind-hearted people to join the effort of providing support to 3,000 underprivileged families in various parts of the country.
The Church says in a press release that donation boxes have been placed across the network of lyceums, at the official residence of the Moldovan Metropolitan, and at the Metropolitan Nativity Cathedral. “There are many people who can’t afford to put on the Easter table the (traditional sweet bread) cozonac, (cheese-filled braided bread) pasca, or Easter eggs. We encourage all the big-hearted people to join our cause so that, through solidarity and commitment, we can give hope”.
The proceeds will be used to buy food, sweets for children, clothes, school supplies, shoes and toys to bring smiles and joy in needy homes on Easter holidays.
