Moldovan children will ask grownups what they know about Children’s Rights Convention

Twenty-five children from 14 districts of the country who form the Children’s Rights Monitoring Group will carry out a research at their homes between September and October. The children will try to find out what the adults know about the Convention on the Rights of the Child and their attitude as regards the observance of these rights, the head of the Child Rights Information and Documentation Center (CRIDC) Cezar Gavriliuc has told Info-Prim Neo. The children will discuss with the teachers, grandparents and parents and will then propose a solution to ensure the respect for their rights, Cezar Gavriliuc said. The results of the research will be presented in Chisinau during the first week of November, when there will be held group discussions involving experts of the CRIDC. The proposals will be submitted to the Ministry of Education and Youth, the Ministry of Social Protection, Family and Child and the ombudsperson for children’s rights. The Children’s Rights Monitoring Group was created in July 2008 to enable the children to speak about their problems and the problems of their fellows. The members of the group are aged between 12 and 16. The 25 members of the group came together in Chisinau for the seventh workshop held by the CRIDC between August 24 and 26.
