Moldovan chief negotiator meets new head of OSCE Mission

In the Transnistrian conflict settlement process, Moldova will not depart from the constitutional principles of the country, stated Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugen Carpov at a meeting with Ambassador Michael Scanlan, the newly appointed head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, IPN reports.

According to a press release from the Reintegration Bureau, Eugen Carpov has drawn attention to the restrictions on the freedom of movement of people, which undermines the atmosphere of confidence and causes a state of tension among the people. In this respect, Eugen Carpov highlighted the importance of OSCE's involvement, alongside other partners, in defusing the tension.

Michael Scanlan confirmed the need for maintaining an active political dialogue among the actors and partners involved in the conflict settlement process, in conformity with the 5+2 negotiation principles and procedures. The new head of the OSCE Mission stated that all the possible efforts shall be made during his term in office towards setting the Transnistrian conflict.
