The Moldovan athletes completed their performance at the European Boxing Championship held in Bulgaria. In the evening of August 12, Dumitru Galogot and Lilian Ivanov were eliminated in the quarterfinals.
Ivanov was beaten by a pugilist from Azerbaijan. In the case of Galogot, the coaches complain about a biased refereeing in the duel with the European vice champion Vitaly Dunaitsev of Russia. “The referees disadvantaged us repeatedly. Galagot was not at all worse than Dunaitsev,” the coach of the national boxing team Petru Caduc has told IPN.
At the European Boxing Championship, Moldova was represented by ten athletes. This year’s competition involves 241 boxers from 42 countries.
