Moldovan biathletes return from world champs
The biathletes of Moldova had a modest performance at the World Biathlon Championships held in Nove Mesto, the Czech Republic. On February 14, Victor Panzaru finished 119th among 135 competitors in the 20 km individual race, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Panzaru missed six targets at the shooting range and was 15 minutes behind the winner of the competition - Martin Fourcade from France.
In the 15 km women’s individual race, Alexandra Kamenshchik came 109th among 116 biathletes. With five missed targets, she arrived at the finish 18 minutes behind champion Tora Berger from Norway.
Earlier, in the 10km sprint, Panzaru ranked 101th, while Kamenshchik – 112th.
Panzaru and Kamenshchik have the greatest chances of representing Moldova at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.
