Moldovan and Romanian NGOs to discuss experience, knowledge and good practices

Nongovernmental organizations working on the banks of the Prut River will meet at the second Romania – Moldova Civil Society Forum titled “Together for 20 Years”. The event will take place in Chisinau, where there will be discussed aspects of the relations between the NGOs of the two countries, Info-Prim Neo reports. The forum will take place during May 27-28. According to a communiqué from the Federation of Nongovernmental Organizations for Development of Romania, the discussions will center on the transfer of experience, knowledge and good practices and the recommendations made during the first forum. The forum is aimed at strengthening the dialogue and cooperation between the two countries given that Romania is one of the most important donors of assistance for development to Moldova. During the two days, there will be discussed such issues as the contribution of civil society to bringing Moldova closer to the EU, drawing up of a common program for the civil society of the two states and for devising joint initiatives, and the role of the European and international players. In the opening of the forum, speeches will be delivered by Moldovan Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Iurie Leanca and Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Teodor Baconschi. The same day, the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Dirk Schuebel will give a discourse on the European Union’s support for Moldova’s European integration efforts. The event was organized by the Federation of Nongovernmental Organizations for Development of Romania, with support from the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
