Moldovan and Romanian agriculture ministries sign collaboration agreement
The Moldovan Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry and the Romanian Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development have signed a long-term cooperation plan. Moldovan Agriculture Minister Valeriu Cosarciuc said he agreed with his Romanian counterpart, Mihail Dumitru, on a common platform to create conditions for attracting investment in the agricultural sector, in particular in the border area (50 km from the frontier), Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We also referred to the possibility of processing raw materials from our agricultural households at the processing facilities in Romania that are situated in the border area”, Cosarciuc told a news conference in Chisinau.
Cosarciuc added some Romanian investors are willing to launch production of agricultural goods in Moldova for export to Europe.
In addition, the Romanian sanitary agency invited Moldovan specialists to participate in a transborder project implemented in Romania with EU's support. The Romanian authorities are also willing to help with adjusting sanitary and veterinary standards to European ones. This process is important in the light of Moldova's intention to become a mediator in the export of animal products to EU, added Valeriu Cosarciuc.
