During four days, teachers, workers of Chisinau’s Department for education, youth and sport, and foreign guests will participate in the International Conference “Unity through Diversity”, Info-Prim Neo reports. Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb, head of the Department, declared on Tuesday, May 17, at the opening festivity, that the conference would focus on the study and comparison between past and present educational models used by partner schools and between the educational systems in participating countries. This will help finding solutions for the teaching process and meeting every child’s needs. The goal was to share European values, standards and experience of cooperation between community, school and parents. “By promoting free thinking and unity in diversity, the school wants to form tomorrow’s Moldovan and European citizen, able to adapt to the competitive environment of the beginning of the new millennium. Starting from education’s traditions and values, the school will provide quality teaching, according to modern didactic principles, which will help youth’s integration in the economic, social and spiritual reality of their time”, Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb said. Among other objectives, she named the diversifying of the educational horizon, promoting examples of previous local and European successful partnerships between community and school, the analysis of existing cooperation models, identifying real problems and possible solutions in this domain, as well as integrating local values in the European philosophy of unity through diversity. The interim mayor of the capital, Nistor Grozavu, attended the opening. He bid success to everyone involved and promised the City Hall would continue to take care of the educational system and even find some additional funds. Nistor Grozavu mentioned that the theme of the conference was very important as only diversity could lead to a better understanding between communities and the experience exchange was key to this goal. The participants from Moldova, Estonia, Romania, Ukraine and Bulgaria will meet in workshops, will organize expositions and will visit educational institutions. The first edition of the international conference took place last year and had the topic “The development of partnership relationships in the context of forming general European values”.
