In a move to avoid risks to civilian flights in connection with the developments close to the national borders, the senior administration instructed the Civil Aviation Authority to close the Moldovan airspace. The flights going to Chisinau will be redirected to Iasi, it is said on the Government’s Facebook page.
The decision started to be applied on 12 noon.
“The airspace of the Republic of Moldova was closed because we are very close to the combat zone. By such a measure, we aim to ensure the safety of civilian flights,” spokeswoman for the Government Anastasia Taburceanu has told IPN.
Contacted by IPN for details, Fly One marketing manager Cristina Dănilă said the airline was preliminarily informed that all the flights will be suspended, but they are waiting for an official notification from the Civil Aviation Authority. The company was to operate a flight to Moscow this evening. Earlier, Air Moldova also said that it didn’t know if the planned flights will be operated.
