Moldovan airline buys Boeing freighter

The Moldovan cargo airline Get Star has bought a Boeing 747 freighter, which it claims is now the country's largest plane in terms of both size and payload capacity, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I'm glad (…) that a Moldovan company has been able to invest and bring this modern plane under Moldova's flag”, stated Prime Minister Vlad Filat at a ceremony held to launch the plane, which has a capacity of 105 tons. Get Star president Vladimir Seleznev noted that this was the first achievement made possible by Moldova signing a common aviation area agreement with the EU. “This is the first plane of such a capacity and size, and it will offer our exporting producers numerous opportunities, enabling them to transport corn, fresh cherries and many other products”. According to Seleznev, while a Boeing 747 normally costs around €320 million, the company was able to negotiate a better price. Today at 12:00 the freighter flew to Portugal, completing its first flight under the Moldovan flag. Get Star plans to buy another plane until the end of the year to take its cargo fleet to 5 aircraft. The carrier previously operated only IL-76 aircraft.
