Moldovan-administered schools in Transnistrian will be inspected

The eight Moldovan-administered, Romanian-language schools in Transnistrian will be examined by a joint commission that will analyze the food and fire safety there. The composition of the commission will be decided in the January 31 meeting of the joint working group on education that includes representatives of Chisinau and Tiraspol.

The information was made public after a meeting of the political representatives of Chisinau and Tiraspol to the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks, Eugen Carpov and Nina Shtanski, IPN reports.

Eugen Carpov told the journalists that as far as he knows, the accounts of the Tiraspol Lyceum “Lucian Blaga”, which were reportedly blocked, can be used to make current payments.

Nina Shtanski confirmed that the money from the lyceum’s accounts can be directed to pay for maintenance services and the students’ food. Both of the sides want to solve all the problems so that the teaching process in the given schools is not affected.

The two political representatives also spoke about the next rounds of the talks in the 5+2 format that is to take place at the end of February. According to Nina Shtanski, they agreed the subjects for discussion, which include the ensuring of the free movement of people.

They are also considering organizing a meeting of Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and the Transnistrian leader Yevgeny Shevchuk.
