Moldovagaz president says investments in Ungheni-Chisinau pipeline are possible

Moldovagaz may import gas from Europe too if it is cheaper than the gas bought at present, the president of the company’s Supervisory Board Alexandr Gusev said in a meeting with journalists. Asked if Moldovagaz may invest money in building a branch pipe to Chisinau from the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline, Gusev said such a possibility is not excluded, if the company’s shareholders are sure that the made investments will be recouped by tariffs, IPN reports.

According to Alexandr Gusev, the investments made by Moldovagaz in 2012 and 2013 amounted to about 300 million lei a year. The money was used to modernize the gas distribution stations and pipe stations and to perform repair works.

Gusev said the National Agency for Energy Regulation diminished by about 50 million lei the amount of investments made by them in 2012, but the dialogue with the Agency has improved and they hope the company’s arguments will be heard in the future.
