From January 1, 2013, SA Moldovagaz will be the only supplier of gas on the territory of Chisinau municipality, while SRL Chisinau-Gaz will be only a distributor. The modification was imposed by the legislation, Info-Prim Neo reports. Under the Law on Natural Gas, the holders of licenses for the distribution of natural gas to more than 100,000 end-users must legally separate the supply activity from the distribution activity. Radu Mandraburca, head of the Law Division of SRL Chisinau-Gaz, told a news conference that the law refers only to SRL Chisinau-Gaz, which is the only distributor within SA Moldovagaz, with over 250,000 customers. The other companies based in districts will continue to work as until present. As SA Moldovagaz will be the only natural gas supplier in Chisinau municipality, the contracts for the supply of gas will have to be amended. Radu Mandraburca said a notice that SA Moldovagaz became the supplier was printed on the reverse side of the last bill sent to end-users. This information is a proposal to modify the contract. Those who will not agree to change the supplier will be disconnected from the natural gas supply. Specialists of SA Moldovagaz will go from home to home to ask the consumers if they agree to have a new supplier. SA Moldovagaz vice director Ilarion Popa said the new contracts will be different for every category of end-users. From January 1, representatives of the company will visit the household consumers and ask them to sign the new contract. The contract signing period will last for about two years. As regards the about 300 large industrial consumers, they are obliged to retransmit the documents concerning the re-signing of the contracts for signature by January 25. The communal-managerial consumers will be notified and invited to the offices of SA Moldovagaz as the new contract signed with the gas supplier must have the economic entity’s stamp on it. Ilarion Popa stressed that the transfer of the end-users from a supplier to another will not affect the price of gas or the procedure for signing contracts with new consumers.
