Moldova–Film Studios on tour in Ukraine
Four shorts produced at Moldova–Film Studios in 2006 were screened as part of the Francophone Week in Ukraine, which was held from 12 to 20 March. The films “Sasa, Grisa si Ion” (producer and scriptwriter Igor Cobileanschi), “Lacata” (producer and scriptwriter Tudor Tataru), “Un cartus pentru porumbel” (producer and scriptwriter Valentin Todercan), “Gripa la pasari” (producer and scriptwriter Petru Hadarca), were displayed along with productions from other francophone countries in the cities of Kiev, Lvov, Kharkiv, and Dnepropetrovsk.
The Studios’ director general Ion Siman says that making Moldovan movies widely known, and their promotion abroad by participating in diverse festivals, are major concerns for “Moldova-Film”.
Owing to the fact that this year Moldovan films were screened at the International Film Festival in Paris (France), organised by the Latin Union, they are expected at the International Critics’ Week in Cannes (Semaine de la Critiques à Cannes).
Ion Siman also specified that the films produced at “Moldova-Film” Studios, were proposed for a number of festivals that will be held during the year. These are: International Film Festival B-ucharEST 2007 (B-EST) in Romania (April), International Film Festival “Sapporo Short Fest 2007” in Japan (September), International Comedy Film Festival in Montreal, Canada (July), European Film Festival in Brussels, Belgium (July), International Short Film Festival “Kratkofil” in Bosnia and Herzegovina (June), Documentary Film Festival in Washington, the USA, and a Film Festival in Austria.
