Moldova has won two gold medals at the Beach Wrestling European Championships held in southern France, in Saint-Laurent-du-Var. Pavel Graur and Traian Căpățină, who are both members of the Sports Training Center for National Squares, became European champions, IPN reports.
Pavel Graur, 70kg wright class, and Traian Căpățină, 80kg class, climbed on to the winner’s rostrum, showing once again that the Moldovan sport industry is developing. The wrestlers are trained by Nicolae Scurtul, Boris Savva, Maxim Gîlcă, and Sergiu Gurin.
The Ministry of Education and Research congratulated all those who contributed to these accomplishments, urging the young athletes to continue to aspire to excellence in the future competitions. “The medals represent recognition of the assiduous work and talent, but especially of the Republic of Moldova’s place on the wrestling map. The participation in these European Championships was possible thanks to the financial support of the Ministry of Education and Research, which continues to invest in professional sports,” the institution said in a press release.
