Moldova wins three medals at European Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship

The national team of Moldova has won two golden medals and a bronze at the European Under 23 Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship that was held in Poland’s Walbrzych on March 25-30, IPN reports.

Victor Ciobanu won gold in the 59 kg class after beating Bulgaria’s Nicola Vichev in the qualifying rounds, Serbian athlete Tamas Nadj in the 1/8 finals, Vazgen Khachatryan of Armenia in the quarterfinals, Azeri wrestler Eldaniz Azizli in the semifinals and Russia’s Zaur Kabolev in the final.

Daniel Cataraga won gold in the 71 kg class. In the 1/8 finals, he defeated Vedran Luketin of Croatia, then Belarusian athlete Tsimur Berdyieu, Russia’s Aleksei Kiiankin and Sweden’s Daniel Soini in the final.

Petru Shevchuk obtained bronze in the 75 kg class, winning against Sweden’s Bogdan Kourinnoi, while Maxim Mamulat ranked fifth in the 66 kg class.
