Moldova wins three bronzes at World Sambo Champs

Moldova's national squad has won three bronze medals at the World Sambo Championships held in the Greek town of Saloniki. The medals went to Ana Repida (60 kg class), Valentina Caraus (64 kg) and Mariana Dovydova (68 kg). Minister of Youth and Sport Ion Cebanu praised the Moldovan sportswomen for their performance. The Sports Agency has allocated 28,433 lei for organizing the sportspersons' trip to Greece. “We hope that the results will be better in the future. It would be good if the Moldovan athletes ranked third in the world in all the sport events,” the minister said. Despite certain organizational problems, women's team coach Iulian Piatcovschi remained satisfied with the performance of his pupils. In the country rankings, the women's squad took the sixth position of 44 countries, Info-Prim Neo reports. The men's sambo squad had a modest performance at the champs.
