Moldovan pugilist Vladislav Tugui has won a silver medal at the World Junior Boxing Championship in the 60 kg class. The ninth championship was held in the Ukrainian capital of Kiev on September 7-15. It involved 351 boxers from 52 countries, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Ministry of Youth and Sport, at the beginning of the competition Vladislav Tugui scored a 3-0 victory against Rohan Emiliano of the Dominican Republic. In the 1/8 finals, he beat Azerbaijan’s Shamil Ibrahimzade 2-1 and then won by 3-0 against Unubold Ryenchindorj of Mongolia.
In the semifinals, Vladislav Tugui eliminated Ireland’s Kieran Molloy after 1.27 minutes, but in the final he was defeated by Russia’s Ivan Kozlovsky.
Moldova was represented by Vladislav Obruchkov (54kg class), Dorin Bucsa (57 kg), Vladislav Tugui (60 kg), Vladimir Manastirli (63 kg), Artiom Popovich (66 kg), and Mihail Cimili (80 kg).
