Moldova’s representative at the U-20 World Wrestling Championship held in Bulgaria’s Sofia Emilia Budeanu has won a gold medal. For this success, she will receive a money award of 30,000 lei from the Ministry of Youth and Sport and a monthly scholarship of 6,000 lei during a calendar year, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Ministry.
The Moldovan athlete beat Turkey’s representative Evin Demirhan 9-1 in 1/8 finals and China’s Liqiong Xie 7-0 in quarterfinals. In the final, the U.S. athlete Erin Simone Golston led by 7-2 after the first half, but Emilia was better in the second half and beat her 8-0.
Moldovan athlete Doina Roscovanu enters the competition in the 48kg class on August 16.
