Moldovan athlete Valentin Petic won a gold medal at the Cadet World Wrestling Championship. According to the Ministry of Youth and Sport, the Greco-Roman style wrestler impressed the public in the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi, where the competition is held, with spectacular techniques. He won five victories in the 58kg class, IPN reports.
In the qualifying rounds, the Moldovan wrestler met an opponent from Greece, in the 1/8 finals – an Egyptian wrestler, while in the quarterfinals - a wrestler from Azerbaijan. In the semifinals, Valentin Petic beat his Russian rival, while in the final he won against a wrestler from Iran.
Valentin Petic is an eleventh grader at the National Sports Lyceum-Boarding School.
