Moldova ranked third and won bronze at the European Youth U18 Team Chess Championship, IPN has learned from the Chess Federation of Moldova.
Moldova was represented by Liviu Cherbulenko, who is a student of the Balti Sports School, and by the students of the Chisinau chess sports school No. 7 Valeriu Iovcov, Oleg Gorbanovskii and Nichita Morozov.
The Moldovan team scored 18 points of 28 possible and won four games against the squads of Slovenia, Austria, and Romania, drew with the teams of Turkey and Hungary and suffered a defeat to the Polish team.
The team of Turkey ranked first, while that of Poland finished second.
The championship took place in Romania’s Iasi on July 14-22.
