Moldova will produce 20% of necessary quantity of electricity

The Republic of Moldova will produce 20% of the consumed electric power by using renewable sources of energy. A plan of action in this respect, which is to be implemented until 2020, was worked out by the Ministry of Economy. The plan contains a number of legislative, regulatory and administrative measures needed to achieve this objective, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the Ministry, the national plan of action on production of renewable sources of energy represent a key document of Moldova’s policy aimed at promoting the use of such sources with a view to achieving the strategic goals of securing the supply with energy and the long-term development for protecting the environment and reducing climate change.

Vadim Ceban, director of the Ministry’s General Security and Energy Efficiency Division, said the plan of action aims to strengthen the energy production platform in Moldova by reequipping the thermoelectric plans CETs, integrating the capacities of the Transnistrian region and developing the production of aeolian energy.

It is anticipated that the implementation of the plan will generate investments of minimum €250 million for achieving the set objectives, including new workplaces and a positive effect on the GDP.
