Moldova will pay more for Russian gas

Moldova will pay a higher price for the gas imported from Russia in the third quarter of this year. The price calculated for 1 000 m3 of gas supplied by Gazprom is US$361.17, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from SA Moldovagaz, if the growth rate of the world oil prices persists, the price of gas in the fourth quarter of the year will rise to US$395.24. In such conditions, SA Moldovagaz may ask the National Agency for Energy Regulation to increase the charges for end-users. Under the contract signed with Gazprom, the price of gas is set every quarter according to a formula that results from the arithmetic average of the selling price of gas supplied by Gazprom to the European countries, and is in line with the rise in the world prices of diesel fuel and crude oil. The price for 1 000 m3 of gas in the first quarter of the year was US$292.88. The average price for 2011 could amount to US$343.84 per 1 000 m3.
