Moldova will pay about 50m lei dues and debts in 2009
This year Moldova plans to transfer 49.95 million lei to international and regional organizations as membership fees and debts. The money will be distributed according to urgency, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The payment of a part of the dues and debts to these organizations in due time is a matter of honor and an important factor in promoting Moldova’s image and the quality of reliable partner,” said Minister of Finance Mariana Durlesteanu.
The dues to parliamentary organizations will be paid the first. The other payments will be made depending on the level of cooperation, financing offered to Moldova and the agreed debt rescheduling timetables.
“Moldova should show initiative and fully make use of the cooperation opportunities offered by the international and regional organizations, put forward more interesting and viable projects, use the experience gained by these organizations,” the minister said.
Moldova is a member of 61 international and regional organizations, according to the latest information provided by the executive.
The overdue membership dues on January 1, 2009 totaled 162.1 million lei. Compared with several years ago, things have changed significantly, the authorities say. Moldova does not have debts to 35 of the 61 organizations of which it is a member and pays the dues in the normal way. Most of the debts to other organizations have been rescheduled and the payments are made according to agreed timetables.
