Moldova will learn from Romania’s experience from pre-integration into EU period

Moldova will learn from Romania’s experience from the period of pre-integration into the EU and this will help Parliament improve its work, Speaker Igor Corman said in a news conference given on his return from Bucharest, IPN reports.

“The Chamber of Deputies of Romania adopted a statement on the provision of support to Moldova in its European integration efforts. Romanian fully supports Moldova’s European agenda, including our expectations of the Vilnius Summit and our post-Vilnius agenda, i.e the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU, including the Agreement on the Creation of the Free Trade Area, and the obtaining of a visa-free regime for Moldovans,” stated Igor Corman.

Moldova will learn from Romanian’s experience in three areas: improvement of activity in Parliament, of the work of the secretariat and the relevant commissions; exercise of parliamentary control, strengthening of the autonomous authorities and public authorities, and adjustment of the national legislation to the EU acquis.

“We want to use the entire experience accumulated by Romania in the pre-integration period. We suggested that all these ideas should be included in a cooperation protocol between the Chamber of Deputies and Moldova’s Parliament. Such a protocol was drafted and will be soon finalized and signed in Chisinau. The protocol will include clear actions. For example, three times a year members of the relevant parliamentary commissions will go to the Chamber of Deputies of Romania to get practical experience.

Igor Corman paid a visit to Romania on September 30. He was accompanied by a parliamentary delegation consisting of MPs Valeriu Strelet, Dumitru Diacov and Ion Hadarca.
