Moldova will have a European-type railway segment
A European-type railway segment will be constructed in Moldova. PM Vasile Tarlev discussed this issue with a group of Czech investors, who are visiting Chisinau in order to examine the possibility of implementing several important projects.
PM Vasile Tarlev mentioned about the importance the Government pays to the implementation of European standards in all the fields of economy development, especially railways and refurbishment of roadways.
At the same time, the PM told about the interest of Moldovan authorities to carry out projects in what concerns the creation of industrial zones, assembling of trolleybuses and buses, production of bio-ethanol etc.
The PM mentioned about the necessity of creating a joint working group, which would work out the projects.
One of the projects includes refurbishing the railway segment Chisinau-Ungheni. This is the first modernisation stage of the IX pan-European international transport corridor.
By now, the entire area of railways in Moldova continues to be adapted to the soviet-type standard, which makes difficult and slow the connection with other European countries. The length of the Railways in Moldova is 410 km.
