“We have the most geostrategic mayor in the world. The struggle was harsh, fitting the candidates, with trenches in the central square of Chisinau and with diversions at the wastewater treatment station. Though the candidates running for the mayoralty initially included better managers (Vasile Chirtoca) and much more integral persons (Oazu Nantoi), the residents of Chisinau, in the final chose between theirs (‘Russia-leaning’ candidate Zinaida Grecheanyi) and ours (the ‘European’ Dorin Chirtoaca)”, former Prime Minister Ion Sturza said, commenting on the results of the local elections in Chisinau, IPN reports.
In the wake of the Greek tragedy, the Moldovans showed strategic maturity and profound knowledge of geography, Ion Sturza wrote on a social networking site. “We are near you, Europe! We are replacing Greece that is going astray! Though it was a choice between a shard and a broken pot… Grecheanyi, who lacks personality and was unable to show a minim of ideas and actions. …Chirtoaca, who has been mayor of a city with poor infrastructure, soiled maxi-taxies, quasi-total corruption and green areas appropriated by the political comrades during eight years …,” said the former Premier.
“Moldova will go to rack and ruin if two-three more such ‘geopolitical’ elections are held … Or this is the pursued goal? Good or bad?! Moldova is an easy prey for obscure, internal and external interests. But what about the inhabitants of the country - millions of people whose blame resides only in the fact that they were born at an unsuitable moment and in the unsuitable place? Congratulations, Dorin Chirtoaca! You are the most geostrategic mayor in the world!” wrote Ion Sturza.
Dorin Chirtoaca won the second round of the mayoral elections in Chisinau with over 53% of the vote.
