Moldova will continue reform agreed on with EU, Timofti tells Schuebel

Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti received a visit from the head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Dirk Schuebel, at his official residence on Tuesday, May 29. The European official saluted the adoption by Parliament of the Law on Ensuring Equality and an initiative on the reformation of the Center for Fighting Economic Crimes and Corruption, Info-Prim Neo reports. The two laws, crucial for the advancement of the negotiations on the visa liberalization dialogue with the EU, were promulgated by President Timofti on May 28. According to a press release issued by the President’s Office, Nicolae Timofti told Dirk Schuebel that Moldova would carry on the modernization of its legislation and the reforms agreed on with the EU. The head of the state highlighted the justice reform as a priority and said he was preparing legislative initiatives to boost the process. The head of the EU Delegation, for his part, announced that the European Union could increase the financial assistance in 2013 for countries in the Eastern Partnership, including Moldova, according to the principle “more for more”. At the end of the meeting, President Timofti thanked Dirk Schuebel for the support Moldova received from the EU.
