Electricity consumption on the right bank of the Nistru River is planned for January 14 similar to January 13. Due to the capacity limit of the interconnection with Romania (cumulated on the Market for the next day and on the intra-day market) it was not possible to fully reserve the capacity, Energocom announced, as quoted by IPN.
Therefore, between 16:00 and 19:00, in order to cover its consumption forecasts, the Republic of Moldova will resort to emergency power.
“To avoid power outages, the transmission operator Moldelectrica will request energy from Romania's transmission operator Transelectrica to cover the consumption needs. We will not have outages,” stated Victor Bînzari, advisor to the director of Energocom, in a statement to IPN.
Citizens are urged to reduce electricity consumption in order to ease the pressure on the entire system.
According to Energocom, the rest of the electricity needed for January 14 will be supplied by district heating plants in Chisinau and Balti, renewable energy plants, as well as supplemented with significant energy, both under bilateral contracts and on the stock exchange.
