Moldova will buy slightly cheaper gas from Russia
In the first quarter of next year Moldova will import gas from Russia at a price of $395 per one thousand cubic meters, which is by almost 5$ cheaper than the current price, announced Deputy Prime Minister Valeriu Lazar, Info-Prim Neo reports.
It is not yet known if this will influence prices for end-users, including domestic consumers. The Energy Regulatory Agency is to make the required calculations and announce whether tariffs will be adjusted or not.
According to Valeriu Lazar, in order to eliminate the pressure of time in the negotiations on a new gas supply agreement, the Moldovan Government and the Russian gas concern Gazprom agreed to extend by three months the current contract that was due to expire on December 31.
“The idea is to obtain a price that is not too hard on consumers”, said Valeriu Lazar.
