The Republic of Moldova will be the 23rd country that will benefit from USAID assistance in preventing and combating domestic violence against children. The support provided by the development partners will include the elaboration of a study of the use of violence against children, the analysis and dissemination of the obtained data and teaching of public institutions to use statistical data for working out and adjusting public policy documents on child protection, IPN reports.
The launch of the study was discussed in a meeting of Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Stela Grigoras and representatives of USAID in Moldova and the team of the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
In the discussions, the minister said the study will be a value added to the policy documents promoted by the Ministry. “We are ready to support the carrying out of this study and are convinced that the study will help us to identify concrete and long-term solutions for preventing and fighting violence against children in the Republic of Moldova,” stated Stela Grigoras.
Besides measuring the forms of violence against children, the study will identify the risks to which the children are exposed, the consequences of violence for their health, protection and prevention measures. Furthermore, the document will determine the shortcomings existing in the regulations and will present useful data (statistics and recommendations) for formulating policy documents in the field.
