Moldova was visited by 800 foreigners in Q1
More than 12,000 tourists used the services of the Moldovan travel agencies and tour operators over January-March this year, a 21.8% decrease compared with the corresponding period last year, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the National Bureau of Statistics.
47.5% of the 800 foreign tourists who visited Moldova in the period came on business trips, 44.7% came to rest, while 7.8% to receive treatment.
18.3% of the foreign tourists came from Romania, 14.8% from Russia, 9.5% from the United States, 8.5% from Turkey, 6.5% from Germany, 5.8% from Israel, while 5.5% from Italy.
A number of 7,600 Moldovan tourists went abroad through the agency of travel agencies, up 6.8% compared with the first quarter of 2009. 94.3% of them traveled for pleasure. 23.3% of the Moldovans traveled to Romania, 17.9% to Egypt, 14.1% to Bulgaria, 8.4% to Turkey, 7.4% to Ukraine, 6.7% to Russia, while 4.4% to Austria.
31.2% of the Moldovan tourists who traveled inside the country used the services of the travel agencies and tour operators working in the municipality of Chisinau, 41.5% - of those working in the development region Centru, while 25.6% - in the development region Sud.
