The Republic of a Moldova is waiting for lots of humanitarian assistance that will help the authorities to cope with the flow of Ukrainian citizens who enter the country, IPN reports.
Over 3,600 employees of the Ministry of Home Affairs were engaged in the management of the flow of foreigners who come to the Republic of Moldova. Over 7,000 employees are now involved in the activities carried out by the Ministry, the head of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations Alexandru Oprea told a news conference.
All the border crossing points are functional, except for a point in southern Moldova, which was closed by the Ukrainian side. Yesterday, the Ukrainian authorities decided to close the border crossing points with the Republic of Moldova on the Transnistrian segment. Only Ukrainian citizens can enter Ukraine through these points.
About 600 Ukrainian citizens have asked for asylum at different local offices of the Bureau for Migration and Asylum of the Republic of Moldova since February 24.
Alexandru Oprea said that an insignificant incident caused by a short circuit was reported at a hotel in Ștefan Vodă, where refugees were lodged. A child aged one year got poisoned by fumes and was taken to the district hospital for medical care, but is now out of danger.
