Ambassador Cord Meier-Klodt will visit Moldova in preparation for assuming his official duties as Special Representative of the 2016 German OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian settlement process. The officials will hold talks with political representatives from Chisinau and Tiraspol, IPN reports.
Ambassador Meier-Klodt will also have meetings with other officials and with representatives from the business community, civil society and think tanks. The talks will focus on possible next steps to reinvigorate the 5+2 process and on support for the implementation of confidence-building measures in order to bring about tangible improvements for the people living on both sides of the Nistru River.
Ambassador Cord Meier-Klodt will serve as Special Representative for the Transnistrian settlement process. He succeeds Ambassador Radojko Bogojević, who held this post during the consecutive Swiss and Serbian Chairmanships of the OSCE in 2014 and 2015.
