Moldova, U.S. to initiate negotiations on easing visa requirements
The Government of Moldova and the U.S. Government will initiate negotiations on the facilitation of the visa regime.
Under an agreement draft, Moldovan citizens will be granted multiple-entry visas valid for 60 months – transit visas, visas for academic and non-academic studies, for international cultural exchanges and religious visits, visas for crew members, mass media representatives, specialists, sportsmen and artists.
At the moment, Moldovans can obtain multiple visas for 3 months for transit, crew members and non-academic studies and the rest of the visas – for 12 months.
According to officials, the advantages of this project are lower fees for visas.
Negotiations on this agreement became possible after the adoption of the Law on annulment of visas for the citizens of the EU, the United States, Canada, Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, and Japan. This piece of law marked the start of the dialogue with the American authorities concerning mutual advantages in obtaining visas.
