An exhibition of photographs and documents showing how the diplomatic relations between the United States and the Republic of Moldova developed during 25 years was mounted at the Museum of Arts in Chisinau, IPN reports.

Attending the event, Minister of Culture Monica Babuc said this is a remarkable event given that the U.S. became a reliable partner of Moldova in building a democratic state during the 25 years. Owing to the donations made by the American people, there were build and rehabilitated schools, kindergartens and other facilities. Partnership relations were established to develop a number of cultural institutions.

U.S. Ambassador to Moldova James Pettit rendered homage to those who during the 25 years shaped the diplomatic relations between the United States and Moldova, transforming them into a relationship of friendship.

First U.S. Ambassador in Chisinau Mary Pendleton stated that while she fulfilled her duties in Moldova (1992-1995), there were built productive relations, while the projects that are being implemented now with support from the U.S. Embassy have a huge effect on the diplomatic relations between the two states.

The U.S. opened an embassy in Chisinau in March 1992, while the Republic of Moldova inaugurated an embassy in Washington in December 1993.

The exhibition is open to visitors until March 10. Entrance is free of charge.
