The agreement on the liberalization of freight transport between Moldova and Ukraine was prolonged until the end of 2025. The document allows for bilateral road and transit transport without special authorizations. The decision was approved in the meeting of the joint Moldovan-Ukrainian commission on international road transport which was held in a videoconference format, IPN reports.
“The possibility of unrestrictedly transporting freight via Moldova is one of the instruments for taking and increasing our export opportunities. Separately, we are working on the checking of all the bus routes between our countries and on the simplification of the procedure for opening these by carriers. We approve of the cooperation with Moldova for the economic development of our countries,” said Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine.
Also, as a result of negotiations, the sides decided to increase the quota of permits for road freight transport to/from third countries by 3,000 authorizations. This way, the permits intended for Moldovan transport operators for 2024 consist of 7,000 permits for freight transport to/from third countries and 2,200 permits for occasional passenger transport.
The agreement on the liberalization of freight transport between Moldova and Ukraine was signed in August 2022 and was valid until the end of this year.
