Moldova U21s to play friendly against Belarus in Tiraspol

Moldova's youth football team has two fixtures left this year. On Wednesday, August 13, the Tricolors will meet Belarus in friendly game in Tiraspol. The match is part of the team's preparation for the clash with England on September 9, the last qualifying fixture for 2015 European Championship, IPN reports.

The Moldovans occupy the 2nd place in the group, 4 points clear of Finland, who have a game in hand. The Tricolors could qualify if they beat England and Finland doesn't win against Wales. “We'll go for victory in the match with England because we can still qualify”, coach Alexandru Curteian told a press conference.

Midfielder Catalin Carp is suspended and won't play against England in Tiraspol, but was called up for the Belarus friendly.

The England game could the Curteian's last game at the helm of the youth team. “I don't know if I'll coach the U21 side in the next qualification campaigns. We haven't talked about a contract extension. I can only say that Moldova's national team has a good future because it has strong players”, said Curteian.

Moldova – Belarus will be played on Wednesday, August 13, in Tiraspol at 18:00 (EET).
