Moldova U21 beaten by Czech Republic

The national Under-21 football team of Moldova suffered the fifth defeat in the qualifying competition of the 2019 UEFA European Championships. Moldova lost at home to the Czech Republic 1-3, IPN reports.

Andrei Makritskii opened the score in the 11th minute, but Luka Provod tied in only four minutes. After the break, Zlin player Ondrej Baco scored for the Czech Republic, in the 60th minute. Moldova was close to drawing through Vitalie Damascan, but the National Division top scorer hit the bar. Karel Knejzlik set the scoreline in the 71st minute.

As a result of this defeat, Moldova remained last but one with three points. “It was a balanced match, but we again lost owing to individual mistakes,” Moldova U21 manager Danut Oprea told a news conference.

In the next match of the qualifying competition on March 27 next year, Moldova plays group leader Croatia away.
