The Under-17 national football team of Moldova had a bad start in the qualifying competition of the 2019 UEFA European Championship. Moldova lost the first match to Belgium 0-1. The encounter took place in Vadul lui Vodă town, IPN reports.
Francois Xavier Engolo scored the only goal of the game in the 39th minute. In the second half, the Moldovan players missed several occasions for scoring. Moldova coach Alexandru Guzun used the following players: Șmalenea, Borș, Zaporojan, Dolghi (c), Ciobanu, Namolovan (Popescu 54), Danu (Gondiu 90), Ghiderman, Calestru, Covali (Picus 70), Iovu.
Moldova plays the next match in Vadul lui Vodă against Greece on October 28. Greece tied with Latvia 1-1.
