Moldova U-21 team beat Faroe Islands
Moldova’s Under-21 squad defeated 1-0 the similar team of the Faroe Islands in the 2011 UEFA European Football Championship qualifiers on September 4, Info-Prime reports.
The Moldovan footballers dominated the game, but managed to score only towards the end. Artur Ionita scored with the head from a corner taken by Iurie Bondarciuc.
The match was played on the Zimbru Stadium and was watched by about 300 spectators.
The victory moved Moldova up to the third position in the first preliminary group. Elsewhere, Romanian beat Russia 3-0, while Andorra lost to Latvia 0-1.
