Moldova will be represented by six athletes at the Tokyo Paralympic Games, to take place during August 24 – September 5, IPN reports.
The Moldovan team is composed of Oleg Creţul and Ion Basoc (judo), Vladimir Butucea and Oxana Spătaru (athletics), and Denis Raiul and Larisa Marinencova (power-lifting).
Oleg Creţul, 46, is a blind athlete who participated three times in Paralympic Games and once in the Olympic Games, in Atlanta. Oleg won silver at the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens and a gold medal in the 2008 Games in Beijing. Having achieved this as a para-athlete on the Russian national team, Oleg will now hope for a medal under the Moldovan flag too.
“I’m a Moldova, so of course I want to win a medal for my country too. I’m training hard and I’ll do everything to achieve this”, said Oleg Crețul, who is also the president of the Moldovan Paralympic Committee.
