Moldova to seek loan from China
Moldova could soon raise a loan from China. “This loan will be much larger than the US$500 million loan promised by the Russian Federation,” the Communist candidate Eduard Musuc told a news conference on Tuesday, without specifying the sum.
According to Musuc, this loan will be also used to implement infrastructure-related projects and pay pensions and salaries.
Musuc avoided saying when the loan would be disbursed and what the repayment conditions were.
“Certainly, we must negotiate with the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank as well, but these negotiations take time and the sums offered are small,” Musuc said.
Asked if the loan he mentioned was the US$1 billion loan that the leader of the Social Democratic Party Dumitru Braghis negotiated when Musuc was a member of this party, the Communist candidate said that it might be.
