A consignment of 132,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine will be delivered to Moldova in the evening of April 17. The vaccines were donated by the Government of Romania and will be shipped to Chisinau through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, IPN reports.
The vaccines against COVID-19 are transported by trucks and will arrive at the Leușeni customs post at about 7pm.
The donation forms part of the support package for the Republic of Moldova announced by the President of Romania Klaus Johannis on the occasion of the official visit he paid to Chisinau on December 29, 2020. The donation will total about 200,000 doses of vaccine.
The first 21,600 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine provided by Romania to Moldova were delivered to the Chisinau International Airport by a SMURD plane on February 27.
In the evening of April 17, a plane will convey another 48,000 of doses of AstraZeneca vaccine to the Chisinau International Airport. These were offered to Moldova through the COVAX Facility.
