Moldova to ratify CIS agreement on terrorism fighting

Moldova’s Parliament is to ratify an agreement on cooperation in fighting terrorism and other violent forms of extremism between the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The document was signed in 2012, but is to be subject to ratification in Chisinau only now, IPN reports.

In the July 7 meeting of the parliamentary commission on economy, budget and finance, director of the Security and Intelligence Service Mihai Balan said that even if Moldova managed to obtain some of the equipment needed to fight terrorism and other forms of extremism,  a new opportunity can any time be thwarted for the reason that this accord wasn’t ratified. He called on the MPs to support this draft decision.

The agreement provides that the bodies responsible for terrorism fighting will cooperate, including by transmitting information about different equipment, and in possible purchases of equipment and its delivery.
