Moldova’s national football team on October 11 plays the last match of the 2014 World Championship preliminaries in Chisinau against San Marin. This game against one of the weakest national squads in the world does not hold interest for the Moldovan football fans. Several hours before the game, not even half of the tickets had been sold, IPN reports.
Ticket prices vary between 40 and 120 lei.
San Marino includes only one professional player - Mirko Palazzi – who plays in the fourth league of Italy, for Cosenza. Palazzi scored the only goal for San Marino in the current preliminaries, when the team suffered a 1-5 defeat to Poland. The other members of the team are postmen, waiters and fishermen.
Moldova manager Ion Caras is sure that his team is the favorite in the match against San Marino. “It’s hard to predict the result. What is important is to score a victory. We will lay emphasis on the offense,” he told a news conferee before the match.
Moldova played against San Marino three times and beat it every time. The current game is played at the Zimbru Stadium, starting at 7pm.
